Barkat Hossain Polash is a freelance Cinematographer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Being a graduate in Economics from University of Dhaka, Polash worked as a fellow in Cinematography in “Asian Film Academy-2015, South Korea”, “Kyoto Filmmakers Lab-2016, Japan” and “Berlinale Talents-2019, Germany”. He has worked as a Camera assistant at “Sandbag Ltd” which is the most equipped camera rental house in Bangladesh from 2011 to 2013, and assisted two prominent Cinematographers Mr. Rashed Zaman & Mr. Kamrul Hasan Khosru. His first feature film “Jalal’s Story” (2015) have won the “Best Cinematography Award” at 6th SAARC Film Festival of Colombo in 2016. He is also working as a cinematographer in feature film “Project Ommi”(2018-2019) & “Manusher Bagan: The First Plantation” (2018-2019) which are currently in production stage. At present, Polash is working both in narrative films as well as commercial and is a member of “Bangladesh Society of Cinematographers” and “Cameraman Association of Bangladesh (CAB)”.
In this talk, Polash will share his long journey with cinematography, and also shed some light on his recent fellowship from Berlinale Talents in Germany. We hope- young filmmakers, cinematographers, as well as film lovers will discover their potentialities on what drives a story- and that will help to open the new windows inside them.
